1. What stray.my is

stray.my is a free community noticeboard for stray animal sightings. People post what they have seen, other people nearby see it and can help. Anyone can read the map and the feed. You need an account to post a sighting, to say you are helping, or to add an update.

It is run as a public good, with no charge, no advertising and no sale of your information.

2. What stray.my is not

It is not an emergency service, a veterinary service, or an animal rescue organisation. Nobody is on duty here. Posting a sighting does not summon anyone, and there is no guarantee that any person will respond to it.

If an animal is in immediate danger, call your local animal rescue, shelter, veterinary clinic or municipal service first. Post here afterwards so people nearby can help and follow up.

3. Your safety comes first

Never put yourself at risk for a sighting. Do not step into traffic, climb, enter private property, or approach an animal that is frightened, cornered or in pain. A frightened animal may bite even if it is normally gentle.

A pin on the map and a photo taken from a safe distance help more than a risky rescue. You are responsible for your own decisions about what is safe.

4. Using an account

• You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree for you.
• Keep your sign-in details to yourself. Anything posted from your account is treated as posted by you.
• One person, one account. Do not post as somebody else.

5. What you post

Post honestly and only about animals. A sighting should be something you have actually seen.

• Do not post false, malicious or duplicate sightings.
• Do not post pictures of, or information about, identifiable people without their agreement. Photograph the animal, not passers-by.
• Do not use sightings to harass anyone, to advertise, or to sell animals.
• Do not post anything cruel, threatening, unlawful, or that encourages harm to an animal or a person.
• Only include a contact detail you are content for anyone on the internet to see. Sightings are public.

6. Who owns what you post

Your words and photographs remain yours. By posting them you give stray.my permission to show them on the site and to anyone who visits it, for as long as the sighting is up, so that the service can do its job.

You confirm that what you post is yours to post — that you took the photograph, or have permission to use it.

7. Moderation

Sightings cannot be deleted by their author, because a sighting others are relying on should not vanish mid-rescue. Mark one as safe or as moved on instead, and it stops asking for help.

A sighting that breaks these terms may be removed, and an account that repeatedly breaks them may be closed.

8. No warranty

stray.my is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be available, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose. Sightings are written by members of the public and are not verified. Locations may be approximate and information may be out of date.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss, injury or harm arising from using the service, from acting on a sighting, or from being unable to reach it.

9. Changes and contact

These terms may change as the service grows. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use stray.my after a change means accepting the new version.

10. Who runs stray.my, and which law applies

stray.my is operated by add the operating person or company here. These terms, and any dispute about them, are governed by the law of Malaysia.
